5. Kadarius Toney - WR

This is the final year of Kadarius Toney's rookie deal and the Chiefs' brass clearly believes in his talent. He's electrifying on the field but has struggled to carve out a consistent role while battling injuries and engaging in questionable behavior off the field.

Toney was a healthy scratch in the playoffs for a reason. He set a Super Bowl record with a 65-yard punt return to help beat the Eagles two years ago, though the 2023 season was a miserable one overall for him. He had 27 catches for 169 yards and one TD in 13 games, surprisingly the most he's played in his three-year career.

As Kansas City remakes its wide receiver room to fix last year's errors, Toney is on a very short leash. He's got one more year to prove he belongs with the Chiefs, but it feels almost certain that Andy Reid will outlast him.

I love watching Toney play and think he's a valuable player when healthy. That's a big caveat though, and he hasn't been capable of staying on the field for long stretches thus far. Purely looking at probabilities, I'll side with Reid over Toney if given the choice.

Toney should have a chance early in the year to earn his spot with a suspension likely coming for Rashee Rice. We should know by midseason if Toney has any shot at sticking around. If he doesn't capitalize early and finds himself on the bench during the stretch run of the season, we'll know his days with the organization are numbered.
