4 Former Chiefs Still Unemployed to Begin Season
By Joe Summers
3. Matt Dickerson - DL
Matt Dickerson was a surprise cut during the roster cutdown last month, and it's even more surprising that he's yet to find a new team. The former undrafted free agent out of UCLA impressed Kansas City's coaching staff and was a difficult release, making his availability even more bizarre.
He's spent time with the Titans and Falcons in addition to the Chiefs, appearing in 12 games and accumulating 15 tackles for Kansas City in 2023. By playing in 24% of the team's defensive snaps last year, he established himself as a reliable rotational player for one of the NFL's best defensive lines.
At six-foot-five and a shade under 300 pounds, Dickerson is an athletic lineman with the physical traits to turn into a real contributor. Even if it's just on a practice squad, he deserves a place in this league.
As more injuries pile up across teams, Dickerson will receive calls. He has too much promise and too much experience not to find a new job.
Considering the way the Cleveland Browns are relentlessly targeting former Chiefs, maybe they'll be the ones to give Dickerson the chance he deserves.
