4 Chiefs Still on Thin Ice Despite Surviving Roster Cuts
2. Skyy Moore, WR
With Kadarius Toney and Justyn Ross sent packing, Skyy Moore has secured his spot on the Chiefs' 53-man roster. At least for now, anyway.
After a productive final year at Western Michigan, the Chiefs used a 2022 second-round pick to add Moore to their ranks. While the ex-Bronco has shown flashes of promise at various points, he's largely left much to be desired. Through 30 career appearances, Moore has just just 43 passes for 494 receiving yards and one touchdown.
After missing the final three 2023 regular-season games with a knee injury, Moore was activated just in time for the playoffs. Much to his dismay, though, head coach Reid didn't see a reason to put him in the lineup, opting to leave Moore as a healthy scratch for the Super Bowl LVIII showdown with the San Francisco 49ers.
Moore headed into the preseason following a decent training camp, but it's still tough to evaluate how he looks. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound wideout only played 12 snaps across three exhibition games and wasn't targeted once.
With Smith-Schuster back in the picture, it remains to be seen how Moore's outlook is shaping up. Not only must he compete for targets with the returning veteran, but he still has to deal with the likes of Marquise Brown, Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice, and Mecole Hardman.
Unless he quickly finds a way to separate himself from the pack, it might not be long before Moore gets lost in the shuffle.
