3 Underrated Left Tackles the Chiefs Can Still Sign in Free Agency
3. Chuma Edoga
If the Chiefs want a younger option for the starting LT spot, the 26-year-old Chuma Edoga could be their guy.
A third-round pick back in 2019, Edoga has played 43 games (19) starts for the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, and Dallas Cowboys over the last five seasons. He might not be a Pro Bowl-level blocker at the moment, but some positive trends are indicating that he can handle a starting role in Kansas City.
For starters, Edoga's PFF pass-block grade has improved in each of the last three seasons, reaching a career-high 63.7 in 2023. He only allowed 16 total pressures across 251 passing downs last season and even managed to average a 73.0 pass-block grade across his final six games with the Cowboys, allowing just one sack during that stretch.
Edoga has played both tackle positions throughout his five-year career, however, he has more experience on the left side (628 snaps) compared to the right (438). That type of versatility is tough to come by, though, so it's easy to see how his addition to the roster would give head coach Andy Reid more flexibility — especially when injuries pop up.
