3 Players Who Have Gone Missing at Chiefs Training Camp
By Randy Gurzi
The Kansas City Chiefs have their eyes on history. They've won three Super Bowls since the 2019 season. The past two years saw them win two of those titles and they're trying to become the first team in NFL history to three-peat.
They should be the favorite right now, not only due to the presence of Patrick Mahomes but also the improvements they made on offense. They won it all last year despite having a suspect receiving corps. That won't be the case in 2024 since they added Marquise Brown in free agency and Xavier Worthy in the draft.
With an improved passing attack, this offense could be one of the most exciting in the NFL. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, the Chiefs need to get through camp and the preseason. There's been plenty of news to follow during training camp but there are also some players who haven't made any noise. Let's check out three such players.
3. Mecole Hardman, Wide Receiver
Last year's Super Bowl MVP didn't start the season in K.C.
Mecole Hardman, who was with the Chiefs from 2019 through 2022 signed with the New York Jets in free agency last year. He played just five games with Gang Green but hardly saw the field. He asked to be traded and ended up back with the Chiefs. He still did very little in the regular season but capped off the year by scoring the game-winning touchdown in the Super Bowl.
Hardman re-signed this offseason and is competing with receivers such as Skyy Moore for one of the final spots at receiver. He has the ability to help on the return team as well but hasn't made much noise at all during the first portion of camp.
