3 Former Super Bowl Champs the Chiefs Could Still Sign
By Cem Yolbulan
Odell Beckham Jr, WR
Another worthy flyer for the Chiefs would be Odell Beckham Jr, who won his only Super Bowl with the Rams as Akers' teammate. During that postseason run, OBJ had shown his ability to be a big-game player with his still solid playmaking ability.
Beckham Jr is obviously not the elite offensive weapon he used to be when he was with the Giants. But he showed that he can still be a productive pass catcher in a limited role during his time with the Baltimore Ravens last season. He finished the season with 565 yards on 35 catches and three touchdowns. His career-high 16.1 yards per reception demonstrated his ability to be a deep target.
The Chiefs upgraded their receiver corps this offseason by signing Hollywood Brown. Patrick Mahomes will certainly have better options to throw to next year but Kansas City's pass-catching rotation had more quantity and quality issues that one signing can fix. Plus, there is the Rashee Rice situation hanging over the franchise right now.
Kansas City led the league in dropped passes last season and simple mistakes by receivers have been a constant frustration for Chiefs fans. Beckham Jr's calling card is his elite hands and never losing the ball.
The fit is clearly there. If the price is also right, OBJ as the WR4 could be a huge upside play for the Chiefs.
