It's been a busy start to the offseason for the Chiefs, with ongoing negotiations with Chris Jones and L'Jarius Sneed on top of the NFL Draft Combine and other free agency decisions.

While some top free agents like Mike Evans are off the market, some of Brett Veach's best work has come by finding diamonds in the rough, such as Drue Tranquill and Mike Edwards last offseason.

Kansas City will need to fill out the roster and Veach has shown a willingness to bring back familiar faces if the timing is right. With that in mind, let's look at three former Chiefs that Veach should bring back in free agency.

3 Former Chiefs Kansas City Should Sign for a Reunion

1. Justin Houston - LB

There were murmors that the Chiefs could bring Houston back for a playoff run this year, though he ultimately signed a deal with the Dolphins. Kansas City beat Miami in the Wild Card round, quickly ending Houston's dreams at winning a Super Bowl ring at the tail end of his career.

Houston is 35 years old. If he doesn't elect to retire, this is likely his last chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. What better team to join than a Chiefs squad gunning for the first three-peat in NFL history?

I wouldn't expect Houston to have any major impact on the team, but he could serve as quality depth and a trusted veteran presence for young pass rushers like George Karlaftis and Felix Anudike Uzomah.

The Chiefs could likely get him on a relatively small deal and he's just one year removed from a 9.5-sack season with the Ravens. Should any pass rushers suffer an injury during the year or if Charles Omenihu misses the start of the season after his ACL tear, Houston could step in and pick up the slack if needed.

After spending eight seasons with the Chiefs and accumulating 78.5 sacks as one of the leaders of a generation of Kansas City defensive football, I'd love to see Houston finish his career where he started while competing for a Super Bowl.
