3 Chiefs on Thin Ice After Catastrophic Loss to Raiders in Week 16
By Joe Summers
Christmas Day couldn't have gone worse for the Chiefs.
Kansas City lost its chance at a No. 1 seed in the AFC with a terrible loss to the Raiders. The offense looks broken, everyone is frustrated and nothing is working. Vibes are bad and the on-field play is even worse.
The Chiefs have two weeks to turn this around before the playoffs. For now, let's go through three Chiefs on thin ice following the most disappointing loss of the year.
3 Chiefs on Thin Ice After Catastrophic Loss to Raiders
1. Matt Nagy - OC
Nagy's first year as offensive coordinator has been an unmitigated disaster. The entire story of the season is how bad the offense is and I'm putting the blame at Nagy's feet.
It's been obvious for a while how much the Chiefs miss Eric Bieniemy, and I'm afraid there may not be enough time to fix this team with the personnel at hand. Kansas City looks functionally broken despite having almost the same personnel as last year. Nagy needs to feel some heat here.
Pick any offensive stat you want and the Chiefs are underwhelming. Considering this is the best defense Patrick Mahomes has ever had, it's downright baffling how much the offense is squandering the moment.
Everything is out of sync. Our offense insists on calling mediocre screen plays and in the moments the Chiefs take a shot, the poorly coached wide receivers fail.
There's no easy solution for now, but it's clear that Nagy cannot return as offensive coordinator. I wish i could say this was a fun experiment. Sadly, it's been a disaster at every single level.
