Even though the Kansas City Chiefs finalized their initial 53-man roster on Aug. 27, these four players could be entering their final season with the franchise.

9. JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR

After being released by the New England Patriots in early August, JuJu Smith-Schuster signed with the Chiefs a few weeks later to help flesh out the WR roster. The former 1,400-yard receiver is a familiar face in Kansas City after helping the Chiefs win their first of back-to-back Super Bowls.

Even though Smith-Schuster just returned to town, he might not want to make himself too comfortable.

After all, Smith-Schuster has to prove that he's capable of bouncing back this fall. The 27-year-old wideout was one of the Patriots' least productive passers last year, tallying just 260 receiving yards with a touchdown on 29 catches across 11 games. He credited some of his struggles to a nagging knee injury, which is an excuse that won't fly in Kansas City.

Smith-Schuster had the luxury of playing in a shallow New England WR room last season, which isn't the case with the Chiefs. With plenty of talented wideouts on this year's 53-man roster, the former USC Trojan could quickly get lost in the shuffle if his underwhelming 2023 performance is the norm and not a one-off situation.

If Smith-Schuster can't be productive with Mahomes under center this fall, his NFL outlook will look grim.
