The biggest storyline of this week for the Kansas City Chiefs is whether or not they will win their third consecutive Super Bowl. That said, there are many other talking points, including potential retirements after the game. Owner Clark Hunt told reporters on Monday that head coach Andy Reid would be returning next season.

Reid later confirmed that in a media appearance on Tuesday. Reid's reassurance he will be returning in 2025 is exactly what Chiefs fans wanted to hear. Another pivotal piece of Kansas City's foundation has been star tight end Travis Kelce. Although speculation about Kelce retiring following Sunday's game is high, Kelce has stated that he would like to play another three seasons.

During a media appearance Wednesday morning, Patrick Mahomes commented on Kelce, saying he hopes the TE keeps his word on that goal. Mahomes said, "Hopefully he does play another 3 years because that’s good for me,” according to Tucker D. Franklin of KCSportsNetwork.

Patrick Mahomes Would Love for Travis Kelce to Play Three More Seasons

Mahomes' comments on Kelce wanting to play another three seasons are no surprise. Since becoming the Chiefs' starting quarterback in 2018, Mahomes and Kelce have developed a legendary connection. In 111 regular season games, Kelce has caught 699 passes from Mahomes for 8,251 yards and 55 touchdowns.

Moreover, in 20 career playoff games together, Kelce has caught 151 passes for 1,725 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Kelce and Mahomes connection is on a different level than many other legendary quarterback receiver/tight-end duos. Most of the time, Kelce freelances his way open, and Mahomes finds him.

So, it stands to reason why Mahomes would be in Kelce's corner if he wanted to keep playing. Nevertheless, the 35-year-old can't play forever, and winning a third consecutive Super Bowl would be a great way to retire.
