Andy Reid Gives Clarity on Future With Chiefs as Super Bowl Looms
By Cem Yolbulan

The Super Bowl week is finally here, and both the Chiefs and the Eagles are in New Orleans taking part in the festivities. Players, coaches, and owners gave their first remarks to the media on opening night. Clark Hunt gave a massive update when he said head coach Andy Reid will return for his 13th season in Kansas City.
On Tuesday, Reid himself confirmed the news. Chiefs insider Pete Sweeney reported that Reid will be back in charge for the 2025 season, adding a reminder that he is under contract through 2029.
In so many words, head coach Andy Reid confirms Clark Hunt’s notion that he’ll be back for the 2025 season. Reid’s currently under contract through 2029, of course.

Hunt had said that he was surprised when people were talking about Reid potentially retiring because of how much fun the 66-year-old head coach is having in Kansas City. Reid highlighted the same sentiment. Instead of being motivated by becoming the all-time winningest coach or passing Bill Belichick, Reid said that he just loves what he does.
"That’s not part of it. I just enjoy teaching. I don’t get caught up much in the stats or the records. I enjoy being around the guys. I enjoy football, the game. You can’t put in the hours we do and not enjoy it. I love the game."

Reid had signed a contract extension in April 2024, along with GM Brett Veach. The two decision-makers seemingly have an excellent relationship. Considering how the team made it to five Super Bowls in six seasons and still has the best player in the game in his prime in Patrick Mahomes, this decision by Reid seems like a no-brainer.
The Chiefs head coach can deny that he is motivated by accolades, but it's hard to imagine that the possibility of winning more Super Bowl rings and continuing to build his legacy is not a contributing factor here.
