Patrick Mahomes Makes Huge Off-Field Announcement Ahead of Divisional Round Game
By Joe Summers
The Mahomes family added a new member on Sunday during the Chiefs' playoff bye week, as Patrick and Brittany welcomed their third child, a baby girl named Golden Raye Mahomes.
While fans are fully focused on the upcoming Divisional Round matchup with the Texans, Mahomes is pulling double duty as both the NFL's best player and now part of a blossoming family. Alongside his daughter Sterling and son Bronze, Golden is Mahomes' third child under the age of four.
Brittany shared the announcement on her Instagram page with a beautiful photo to commemorate the special moment.
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes Welcome Third Child Ahead of Chiefs vs. Texans Game
Family is obviously the most important thing, though fans are certainly hoping that Mahomes delivers a playoff victory to celebrate Golden's birth. The Chiefs are 7.5-point favorites over the Texans at FanDuel Sportsbook, suggesting this shouldn't be an overly difficult contest.
Mahomes joked after securing the first-round bye that he needed the time off for Brittany to have the baby. Thankfully he was successful in his goal, giving him almost three weeks to rest and focus on the arrival of his child.
Now, he has an opportunity to become the first QB in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls, a fitting milestone given Golden is his third kid. Should the Chiefs beat the Texans as expected, they'll host the AFC Championship once again against either the Ravens or Bills.
As things stand, Kansas City has the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl (+350). They were +375 prior to Wild Card Weekend, meaning their chances improved even without playing a game. Things are setting up perfectly for the Chiefs and there's no better motivation for Mahomes than to reward his new daughter with another Lombardi Trophy.
It's a special day for Chiefs Kingdom and the Mahomes family. Hopefully, the celebrations are just getting started.
