He's trending in the right direction.

Patrick Mahomes has made it repeatedly clear that he's not like the average athlete. He has avoided injuries with hits and twists that would've cost most quarterbacks a couple of weeks, and he's defying the odds again in his recovery from a torn ACL and LCL injury.

Unlike many who suffered the same injury, Mahomes underwent surgery almost immediately after suffering the injury. He's tackled his recovery process much more aggressively than most, and he looks to be leading the race against time.

Early reports were encouraging, and his clips from OTAs also made it seem that he'd be ready for Week 1. Now, Pat McAfee may have shut down all concerns about his mobility, as he was reportedly killing it on the dance floor at Travis Kelce's wedding with Taylor Swift:

"I saw the entire Kansas City Chiefs team,” McAfee said on his show, The Pat McAfee Show. “I know [Mahomes] was injured last year, and I don’t wanna give wanna away too much stuff breaking from the wedding. Patrick Mahomes was in the middle of the dance floor."

Pat McAfee implies Patrick Mahomes' recovery is right on track

Of course, Pat McAfee is no doctor, and this is by no means an official update on his condition. Then again, fans don't need a medical degree to realize that his recovery seems to be going along great. Especially if he's already out there showing his moves on the dance floor.

Mahomes is just months removed from an injury that would've been career-threatening years ago. Sports medicine has come a long way, and while his genetics might also play a role, he's been the utmost professional throughout his recovery. As such, he wouldn't have danced if he hadn't been medically cleared to do so; perhaps he wouldn't even have been in attendance.

Like the all-time greats, Mahomes is a relentless competitor. He's absolutely obsessed with not only winning but dominating, and after hearing all the outside noise and suffering the first major injury of his career, he won't rest until he's back to his old self.

Most QBs need more than one season to get back to full strength and recover their explosiveness and mobility. They can play, but they seem physically — and sometimes, even mentally — limited, especially when rolling out of the pocket.

Again, Mahomes has never been like most of his colleagues. And if someone can be as good — if not better — as he was before his injury almost right away, that's definitely Patrick Lavon Mahomes II. The team must protect him from himself and ensure he doesn't bite more than he can chew.

But if he's already twisting and showing off his moves, then he might also be ready to run around and avoid taking hits from Maxx Crosby. Right?
