NFC Foe Makes Trade Chiefs Should’ve Been All Over
By Joe Summers
Trade talks are heating up with the deadline just a few weeks away and the first move of a potentially major firesale went down on Monday with the Jaguars sending DT Roy Robertson-Harris to the Seahawks for a sixth-round pick.
Doug Pederson's Jacksonville squad is going nowhere fast and has several intriguing players that Brett Veach could target. Kansas City's defense is the team's strength though could use an improvement on the interior line, making Robertson-Harris a potential missed value.
Chris Jones and Tershawn Wharton have been excellent on the inside though with limited depth, this is a trade Veach could've made to safeguard things.
Chiefs Missed Out on Jaguars DT Roy Roberson-Harris
The former captain is in his eighth season and developed from an undrafted player out of UTEP into a reliable veteran. He has 198 tackles, 19 sacks and 13 deflected passes over his career, stabilizing the trenches at six-foot-five and 290 pounds.
Robertson-Harris started all 17 games in 2022 and 2023 but was forced to play on the outside and split snaps in a new defense in 2024. It makes sense for both parties for him to move on. Kansas City certainly didn't need to make a trade for him, though it should be all hands on deck in pursuit of a three-peat.
Veach is expected to be active, especially in search of a potential wide receiver upgrade. Rashee Rice is done for the year and the offense has sputtered at times, making guys like Amari Cooper or the Jaguars' Christian Kirk attractive options.
Jacksonville's willingness to trade Robertson-Harris indicates the organization is willing to move more players as well. Expect Veach to at least make a call and more deals should be on the way in due time.
