After the disappointing Super Bowl 59 loss to the Eagles, the Kansas City Chiefs are officially in offseason mode. The front office has massive decisions to make in free agency and the draft but the elephant in the room remains Travis Kelce's future with the team.

The star tight end is currently contemplating his football future, with retirement looming as a real possibility. He is reportedly taking some time to make a decision, but the latest report from NFL insider James Palmer isn't what Chiefs fans want to hear.

Travis Kelce May Be Leaning More Towards Retirement per Latest Report

Based on his conversations with people inside the organization, Palmer said that this may be it for Kelce. In his appearance on the Up & Adams Show, Palmer revealed that even though Kelce hasn't confirmed or denied anything at this point, the 35-year-old's time in Kansas City may be coming to an end.

At this stage of his career, Kelce doesn't have anything to prove. He's under contract for $19.8 million in 2025 but the financial incentives likely don't mean much for someone like Kelce. If he were to retire, he would arguably be the hottest media free agent, with endless possibilities in the sports and entertainment industry.

As Palmer pointed out in his report, Kelce obviously loves playing football, the Chiefs, and is among the hardest workers on the team. At the same time, it's obvious that he took a step back last season.

There is an argument to be made for why coming back for another season and winning a final Super Bowl before riding into the sunset is the right decision. The same can also be said about not putting your body on the line until the wheels come off. Regardless of what Kelce decides to do, he will forever be a KC legend.
