The Kansas City Chiefs will make changes to their roster and coaching staff this offseason, and things will kick into overdrive once the season wraps up.
Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy has been linked to the Tennessee Titans' opening, and that is set to take another step toward becoming a reality. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Friday that Nagy is expected to be one of the Titans' candidates when they begin interviews next week.
Matt Nagy Set to Interview for Titans HC Opening
This doesn't come as a surprise, as Nagy has been linked to this opening for a while now. The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported in December that Nagy is a serious candidate for this job, and this latest report is just another example of that.
It was also reported on Friday that the Tennessee Titans made a change to their head coaching search. That reporting suggests general manager Mike Borgonzi will have final say over the 53-man roster while also leading the head coaching search.
This is something that works in Nagy's favor, given he has history with Borgonzi. Between 2013 and 2017, and again from 2022 to 2024, Nagy and Borgonzi were both in Kansas City together, where they built a nice rapport with each other.
The Titans have a long list of problems, and there aren't many former head coaching candidates on the open market this year. It's only Nagy and Mike McCarthy who are linked to the Titans' job, which should help Nagy. Previous head coaching experience and his background as an offensive coach may aid him in these interviews, as quarterback Cam Ward enters a pivotal sophomore season.
Although things haven't gone as planned in 2025, especially on the offensive end, Nagy is still an option that is gaining steam in the Titans' chase. And this is something that Chiefs fans want to take place. Nagy's contract is, in fact, up, so if the Chiefs wanted him back, they would have to agree to a new deal.
Rapoport and Pelissero also reported that if he doesn't get this gig, there's no telling if he won't head elsewhere to take over as a play-caller. With no teams being named as potential landing spots, the Titans are the primary focus, and it appears he has a real good chance of landing the job. Only time will tell, but the Titans aren't hiding their interest in Nagy.
