Latest Eagles Health News Could Change Everything for Chiefs in Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face one of the best defensive lines in the NFL at the Super Bowl on Sunday. In 2024, the Philadelphia Eagles defensive line recorded 41 sacks and created tons of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Last week, the Chiefs received some bad news when
Philadelphia opened veteran defensive end Brandon Graham's practice window.

Graham's return to the lineup would make it more difficult for Kansas City to slow down the pass rush. Luckily for the Chiefs, it seems Philadelphia's star defensive tackle, Jalen Carter, is dealing with an unforeseen illness.

According Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Carter has been unavailable to the media the past two days and was limited in Wednesday's practice due to an illness.

Jalen Carter's Status for the Super Bowl is in Quesion

While it's unlikely that Carter will be inactive Sunday, depending on the type of illness he has it could impact his snap count. That is significant given how dominant Carter has been so far in the playoffs.

In three postseason games, Carter has recorded 15 QB hurries, three QB hits, and two sacks, per PFF. Carter's dominance on the interior has some Chiefs fans wondering if they should move Joe Thuney back to left guard for the Super Bowl.

However, moving Thuney back to guard would then allow their edge rushers an easier route to Patrick Mahomes. Weighing the impact Carter can have from the inside versus what the edge rushers could do without Thuney at left tackle is a must for the coaching staff. Yet, if Carter's illness does play a role on Sunday that could be a blessing for the Kansas City.

Nevertheless, the battle between the eagles defensive line and the Chiefs offensive line will likely determine the 2025 Super Bowl champions.
