There's no question that the biggest move of the Kansas City Chiefs' 2026 offseason was signing Super Bowl MVP and former Seattle Seahawk Kenneth Walker III. The star rusher will give the Chiefs a level of stability and balance that the offense has been lacking for the past two seasons. For Walker, it has to be an adjustment joining a new franchise for the first time in his career, giving the Seattle Seahawks a peek at the talent they allowed KC to steal in free agency.
Not only will Walker get a chance to face his former team, but it will be a return to Seattle with the Chiefs and Seahawks facing off on Sunday Night Football. Part of the league's schedule release this week was revealing a number of KC prime time matchups, with this one unquestionably near the top of the list when it comes to a potential measuring stick game.
The Chiefs will travel to Seattle on Oct. 25, giving Walker a chance to haunt his own team while the Chiefs can test how close they are to the defending Super Bowl champs. It will be interesting to see how Walker handles the emotion and performs against the team he helped guide to a 2025 championship run.
Chiefs star rusher Kenneth Walker set for Seattle revenge game
Kansas City fans should expect the team to lean heavily on Walker early in the season in an effort to take more off Mahomes' plate as the quarterback returns from the ACL injury that shortened his 2025 season. Even as incredible an athlete as Mahomes is, it's the type of injury that is going to take time to get back up to speed.
This makes the scheduling of Kansas City's matchup with Seattle all the more interesting. Mahomes should be back to himself by this stage of the season, and Walker will have carried a heavy load early on. It will be interesting to watch how Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy decide to attack a stout Seattle defense, whether leaning heavily on Walker or using the reunion as a distraction and having a pass-heavy game plan.
Regardless of the answer, there is no question that this game is one Chiefs fans are circling heading into the summer. It's a chance for Walker to haunt his old team while Kansas City gives the defending champs a wake-up call that their dominance will be short-lived. There is every reason to be excited for a matchup that allows Walker a chance at revenge and for KC to send a message to the rest of the league.
