The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday night but when the game is over, they’ll have plenty of decisions to make. The offseason will be interesting for Kansas City whether or not they’re celebrating an unprecedented three-peat on Monday morning and one of the biggest questions will be how they’ll boost their offense.

The Chiefs were an average offense in 2024, ranking 15th in points and 16th in total offense but it was a far cry from the peak of the Patrick Mahomes era when they were a perennial top 10 offense. With that in mind, it will be crucial to keep the playmakers they have in Kansas City but they could run into a hurdle thanks to a rival that wants to poach one of their top playmakers.

Josh Allen Wants to Poach Hollywood Brown from the Chiefs

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler dropped a notebook on his intel from Super Bowl LIX Sunday morning and he had some interesting things to say on the future of Marquise "Hollywood" Brown. The Chiefs speedster was counted on to be a top target for Patrick Mahomes but could still have a strong market even after missing most of the year due to a clavicle injury.

This means that other teams could come hard after Brown’s services and that list includes the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Josh Allen.

“The Chiefs very much want to keep receiver Hollywood Brown, who should have a good market due to team’s desire for speed options on the outside,” Fowler wrote. “Mahomes advocated for signing Brown last year and will likely do so again. Will another star quarterback – like Josh Allen – be next? People with the Chiefs I spoke to this week believe that Allen has long wanted to play with Brown.”

It’s obvious why Allen would want to play with a receiver like Brown. With one of the strongest arms in the league, Allen could envision himself chucking long bombs to a receiver that posted a 4.27 second time at his Pro Day back in 2019. But it also is why the Chiefs should go all-in to keep Brown this spring.

Brown had a reasonable price last offseason, signing a one-year deal worth $7 million. While his valuation is skewed after missing time due to injury, he could come at a similar cost or even a little cheaper as Kansas City needs playmakers on the outside.

Although Rashee Rice is expected to return from a knee injury next season, Brown would be a serviceable No. 2. It would also be wise to keep Brown playing for a rival as it seemed like a speedster on the outside was the one thing Buffalo was missing in their quest to topple the Chiefs’ dynasty.

It makes Brown a key free agent for Kansas City next offseason and one that may require the extra mile to bring back next season.
