The NFL trade deadline has came and went without the Kansas City Chiefs adding cornerback help. While the Chiefs failed to acquire a cornerback, it wasn't from a lack of trying.
According to Albert Breer, the Chiefs were pretty aggressive in Marshon Lattimore's trade market, but the price tag was too high. Luckily, Kansas City should welcome back a key player in the secondary sooner than later.
The Chiefs have been pretty aggressive in looking for corner help. Pricetag for Marshon Lattimore was simply too rich. Whether they can find someone at the right price, who's an upgrade over what they already have, remains to be seen. Tight cap situation does complicate it.

Latimore was sent to the Washington Commanders in exchange for a third, fourth, and sixth-round pick in 2025. Even though the Chiefs are all-in on being the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, giving up similar capital for Latimore would have mortgaged their future success.
Although missing out on Latimore is a bummer, Chiefs fans received some good news today from Cornerback Jaylen Watson.

In an X (Twitter) thread on Tuesday, Daniel Harms of RGR Football replied to a fan who asked about Watson's injury timeline, saying he'd be out for the season. That prompted Watson to reply, "Who said that?"
Watson suffered a fractured ankle during the Chiefs' Week 7 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. The early reports from NFL insiders like Jeremy Fowler implied that Watson could miss the remainder of the 2024 season.
He's currently on injured reserve but is expected back for the stretch run. Watson's reply provides Chiefs fans with hope he can at least make it back for the playoffs, though it sounds like he'll be back much sooner than that.
If Watson does indeed return soon, he'll greatly boost the Chiefs' chance of winning a third straight Super Bowl. He blossomed as a starting corner alongside Trent McDuffie in the early weeks of the season, so here's hoping he'll be back in action before long.
