Injured Chief Makes Cryptic Tweet Teasing Unexpected Return This Season

The Kansas City Chiefs were the first team in the NFL to clinch their spot in the playoffs. Despite sitting at 11-1, the Chiefs have been unconvincing in recent weeks, culminating in an ugly win over the Raiders in Week 13.
Now, the only goals for the Chiefs in the remaining five weeks of the season are to get a first-round bye and be healthy for the postseason. In fact, they may be even healthier than they initially thought. Injured cornerback Jaylen Watson tweeted a cryptic message on Tuesday evening that signals an unexpected return.
Despite the reports suggesting that he would likely miss the remainder of the season with the fractured ankle he suffered in Week 7, Watson continues to deny this. A month ago, he dismissed the injury reports that said he would miss the remainder of the season. Now, he is telling us to never count him out.
If Watson were to return for the final stretch of the season, it would significantly boost the Chiefs' chances of a historic three-peat. Before his injury, Watson was having a breakout season opposite Trent McDuffie. He was replaced by Nazeeh Johnson, who failed to impress in Watson's absence. Johnson saw his defensive snaps reduced last week in favor of Joshua Williams, who fared much better.
However, Watson is at a different level as a backfield defender. He had a career-high 70.9 PFF grade in six games, only allowing a 53.6% completion rate when targeted with four pass breakups and 27 tackles. Getting him back earlier than expected will allow the Chiefs to ramp him up for the postseason, which would be a massive upgrade in the cornerback rotation.
