The life of an NFL journeyman is like that long, winding road. The one where the final destination is always unknown. One day you’re packing your bags... the next you’re learning a new playbook. And this is the grind many veterans experience for one more snap.

This road took another turn for a seasoned defender on Monday. The Indianapolis Colts threw a lifeline to defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon, per NFL reporter Aaron Wilson. He's now signed to the Indy practice squad. Consequently, they also released Seth Coleman to make space. The move provides crucial depth for a team suddenly navigating injury troubles.

Tanoh Kpassagnon Gets a New Home

Kpassagnon is a 31-year-old vet who was a second-round pick by the Chiefs in 2017. The LB became a key part of their Super Bowl LIV-winning roster. He also brings a wealth of experience from his time with the Saints and then with the Chicago Bears. But his foundation was built in Kansas City.

The Chiefs drafted him for his raw, freakish athleticism. He developed into a versatile piece for their defense, starting 24 games over four seasons. Besides, his first career start in the 2017 finale was a breakout. It featured two sacks and seven tackles. And his growth was evident by 2019. Teammates like Chris Jones applauded his ability to play multiple positions along the line and on special teams.

"I gotta sit down and give that guy credit, because the guy actually played on kickoff, kickoff return, field goal block, went out there on defense and played d-end, in nicked played 3-technique, and he did that for three quarters. You know what? You gotta sit back and give him a round of applause for the amount of work he just put in," Jones had said after a game against the Bengals in 2019, per SportsRadio810. But his stint in Chicago this season was a whirlwind.

He was released, re-signed, and released again. A section of the Chiefs fans had hoped for a reunion. Meanwhile, he actually managed to record a sack in his very first game for the Bears. This proves he can still contribute when called upon. Now, he lands in Indy to prove his worth once more.

A Strategic Move for the Colts

The Colts aren’t just collecting players; they’re making a savvy, calculated decision. Their defensive line is currently banged up. Starter Samson Ebukam is out for weeks with a knee injury. Even Tyquan Lewis remains sidelined with a groin issue. This creates an immediate need for a reliable body who knows the league.

Kpassagnon’s role is clear. He will serve as experienced insurance on the practice squad. The Colts can elevate him for game day as needed. His 6-foot-7 frame is a specific asset, especially against the run. He is a known quantity in a league full of uncertainties.

Tanoh's is a story about adaptability. His suitcase never unpacked. Kansas City once hoped he’d blossom into the next Tamba Hali. Instead, he became the journeyman every contender needs in December. The Chiefs aren’t losing sleep—yet. But if he tips a Mahomes pass in Week 12, Arrowhead will remember the name they once mispronounced.
