Former Chief Signs With NFC Contender in Week 14
As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for Week 14's Sunday Night Football showdown with the rival Los Angeles Chargers, one of the franchise's former players has found a new home.
The Minnesota Vikings announced on Wednesday that they have signed veteran cornerback Kelvin Joseph to their practice squad. The ex-Kentucky product earned his first Super Bowl ring after signing a future contract with the Chiefs back in January.
Chiefs News: Vikings Sign CB Kelvin Joseph
The Vikings mark the sixth NFL franchise that Joseph has joined since being drafted 44th overall by the Dallas Cowboys in 2021. The Baton Rouge, LA native has since experienced brief runs with the Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, and, most recently, the Indianapolis Colts before they released him at the end of October.
It isn't a secret that Joseph's NFL career has been a disappointment thus far. The 6-foot-1 defensive back showed a lot of promise throughout his collegiate career but has struggled to make the same impact as a pro.
After struggling in his two seasons with the Cowboys, Joseph has only played five games since the start of the 2023 campaign. He suited up for two of the Colts' October games, registering one solo tackle while playing all 36 of his snaps on special teams.
Time will tell if Joseph can realize his potential in Minnesota. The Vikings are currently allowing the fifth-most passing yards per game in the NFL and would love nothing more than for the 25-year-old CB to help Kevin O'Connell & co. turn the situation around.
