Star WR DeAndre Hopkins is officially a Chief and spoke to the local media for the first time on Thursday, giving insight into the trade process and his excitement for the big move.

The five-time All-Pro praised the Titans' organization, expressing gratitude that he was sent to a true contender instead of an uncompetitive team. Hopkins has never experienced true team success and recognizes the opportunity in front of him.

Kansas City is the NFL's only undefeated team and happened to have a major need at Hopkins' position. This trade was a perfect fit for both sides and the Chiefs' newest player sounds excited about it.

DeAndre Hopkins Grateful Titans Let Him Join Chiefs

"Those guys (Titans) could've traded me anywhere," Hopkins said. "I thank them a lot for that. When I got the news, I was excited."

Appropriately so. At 32 years old, Hopkins is entering the final years of his illustrious career. If he doesn't get to compete for a Super Bowl now, when will he? Despite catching passes from a carousel of quarterbacks, Hopkins still put up 1,057 yards and seven TDs last year.

He instantly becomes the team's best wideout with Rashee Rice on the shelf. Hopkins' production has been underwhelming so far this season but it's hard to argue that it's his fault.

Now, one of this generation's best players can cement his legacy in games that truly matter. If Hopkins wins a Super Bowl, he could find himself in the Hall of Fame one day. Playoff success is all his career is missing.

For both the Chiefs and Hopkins, this is the beginning of a potentially extremely beautiful partnership.
