Cleveland Browns may hold perfect answer to Chiefs’ receiver concerns

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

The Kansas City Chiefs just saw another one of their former wide receivers sign elsewhere. JuJu Smith-Schuster followed Marquise "Hollywood" Brown to the NFC East to sign with John Harbaugh's New York Giants.

While he's not a star and that move shouldn't move the needle that much, JuJu's departure leaves the Chiefs without yet another option. He had been a security blanket for Patrick Mahomes, and this team's wide receiver corps remains much too thin.

With that in mind, general manager Brett Veach should keep an eye out in Cleveland. The Browns just traded Myles Garrett, and with a potential fire sale looming, the Chiefs might be able to get Jerry Jeudy or at least Cedric Tillman.

The Chiefs should capitalize on Browns fire sale and trade for Jerry Jeudy

Jerry Jeudy hasn't lived up to the expectations as a former first-round pick, and last year was another piece of proof that he's not cut out to be an alpha. As a complementary piece, however, he might be a significant upgrade for the Chiefs.

There's no telling how or what Rashee Rice will be in 2026. He might have a tough time recovering from a knee procedure after spending 30 days in jail, and, as talented as he is, he's often been inconsistent and hurt.

That leaves Xavier Worthy as the likely WR1 in Kansas City. He has the talent and the skills to be a big-play specialist like Tyreek Hill, and Eric Bieniemy will likely try to use him as such now that he's back, but there aren't many options besides him.

Jeudy struggled with mental errors and lazy routes last season, but he's still a former first-round selection. When locked in and when he has someone else to draw defensive attention away from him, he can actually be a productive player.

The Browns aren't going to be a contender in 2026, and even if that were the case, they shouldn't have much of an incentive to hold onto Jeudy. They drafted KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, and they have another promising youngster in Isaiah Bond, so the Chiefs could probably land Jeudy at a discount.

Sometimes, players just need a change of scenery to be at their best. The Chiefs have a long history of rolling the dice on reclamation projects, and while they haven't always panned out, he's at least worth the gamble.

Notably, the Browns could also look to move on from Cedric Tillman, a talented but injury-prone former third-round pick who hasn't taken a leap yet. If the Chiefs have doubts about Jeudy's salary or character, Tillman could be another option to explore. Whatever the case, this team won't make a big-name addition; that has been pretty clear so far, and as such, the Browns might be the best trade partner they can get.
