The Kansas City Chiefs made a surprise trade in the preseason, moving on from struggling receiver Skyy Moore. The pass-catchers' issues with drops were becoming far too glaring to ignore, and the opportunity for a fresh star made sense for both sides. San Francisco is dealing with a myriad of receiver injuries, making it easy to justify the addition of the former Chief. If there is one system outside of KC that can bring the veteran's career back to life, it is the 49ers.
With this in mind, the deal made sense for Moore and has given the receiver a chance to embrace a new landing spot. Early returns have made it obvious how much Moore is excited about joining Brock Purdy and a talented 49ers offense. There will be far more chances for the pass catcher to play a contributing role early in the season.
Moore is stepping in as the WR3 with current injuries pushing the veteran unexpectedly up the depth chart. When the roster is healthy, it seems more likely the receiver would be the 5th option at the position. However, it is an exciting opportunity for the veteran to quickly put his career back on track.

Former Chiefs WR Skyy Moore Wasting No Time Embracing New Team
Moore recently tweeted out "Faithful to the Bay," celebrating his new team and an obvious fit. This is understandable when you consider that his time with Kansas City was on life support. There was a high level of pressure to make plays and fight his way past younger pieces that were offering more value. This translated into struggles with holding onto the football.
It was clear by Moore's final game with the Chiefs that the issue had become mental as the pass catcher dealt with the immense pressure. Turning the page was going to happen anyway, at least this way Moore was given a chance to contribute to a new team and enjoy a fresh start. A chance that appears to be taking full advantage of heading into the regular season.
For Kansas City, this remains the correct decision with far more exciting options poised to make the final depth chart. Moore needed a change and a chance to put the struggles behind him in the right offense. San Francisco has a long history of making underwhelming pieces work, giving Moore a chance to put his career back on track.
