Chiefs Villain Suddenly a Threat to Suit Up for Bills in Week 9

The Bills could turn to a veteran with plenty of experience at torching the Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs will take their winning streak on the road for what could be another instant classic matchup with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. Sean McDermott's team has typically fared well against the Chiefs in the regular season, but not as much in the playoffs.

This time, however, they could have one of the biggest Chiefs villains back on the field for the first time this season. According to a report by Bills Insider Sal Capaccio of WGR 550, veteran WR Gabe Davis has now been activated off the practice squad, and he could suit up on Sunday.

Bills Veteran WR Gabe Davis Could Suit up on Sunday

If Gabe Davis' name rings a bell, that's because he tormented the Chiefs' secondary in the Bills' heartbreaking overtime loss in the 2022 AFC Divisional Round. He exploded for eight catches for 201 yards and a whopping four touchdowns.

Now, he's back in Buffalo after just one season. He signed a four-year, $39 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he suffered a season-ending injury after a slow start, so the Bills brought him back while he was still recovering from that injury.

Throughout his days with the Bills, Davis reeled in a whopping 153 receptions for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns. That's why, when asked about whether he was ready to roll, he opened up on his chemistry with Josh Allen, citing that he won't need much time -- if any -- to get on the same page with him.

“I’ve known Josh now for six years, played with him for four, going on five -- I don’t think there’s anything we need to talk about or really learn about each other,” David told the media on Wednesday, via Andy Young of Spectrum News 1. “We have like 30-something touchdowns together. We’ve done it a lot, and it just feels like second nature at this point.”

That could spell trouble for the Chiefs. As great as they've been against the pass this season, Josh Allen averages 255.6 passing yards per game against Kansas City, and he also has 24 total touchdowns to just five interceptions. He hasn't been the reason why the Bills can't get past the Chiefs.

Buffalo's unimpressive wide receiver corps has been a talking point this season. And even though Gabe Davis isn't a superstar by any means, the last thing the Chiefs needed ahead of this road matchup was for Allen to get any help.
