The Kansas City Chefs kick off their season one week from Friday in São Paulo, Brazil, against the Los Angeles Chargers. With the game being out of the country as well on a Friday, the Chiefs' practice schedule was bound to look different than normal. Thursday morning, it was revealed what Kansas City's Week 1 schedule would look like.
According to Pete Sweeney of the Kansas City Star, the Chiefs will hold practices and have media appearances on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. They will then travel on Wednesday, followed by a walkthrough and media availability on Thursday in Brazil. This schedule is a lot different then most players are used to for the first game of the year.

Chiefs Release Itinerary for First Week of the 2025 NFL Season
For many teams, the week leading into Week 1 usually starts on Monday or Tuesday. Players are currently enjoying a long Labor Day weekend with their families before reporting back to their respective facilities. The Chiefs, however, don’t have that luxury. Besides them and the Chargers, their only company in preparing early are the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, who face off on Thursday night to begin the season.
That said, the Chiefs' itinerary for Week 1 is standard. When Kansas City plays road games state-side, they have three practices, a travel day, and a walkthrough the day before the game. Still, having to begin preparation for the first game of the season on the Sunday before Labor Day is rough.
However, the majority of the Chiefs' roster is used to having a shortened Labor Day weekend. Over the past five years, Kansas City has played in three Thursday night games to open the season. While this is a bit different, it's not out of the ordinary for the Chiefs to hold their Week 1 game before most of the NFL.
Nevertheless, Chiefs Kingdom is pumped up for the start of the season next week. Everyone will be cheering for the Chiefs to start the season correctly with a victory.
