With as great as the Kansas City Chiefs have been since their run of AFC dominance began in 2019, it is almost more shocking when a move made by the franchise doesn't work out exactly as planned.

That is the reality of professional sports, though. There are just as many "sure-fire" additions that flame out as there are complete unknowns who break through the glass ceiling and enjoy legendary careers.

While it didn't prevent the Chiefs from representing the AFC in the Super Bowl yet again this past season, Kansas City fans are seeing one of those additions that didn't work out for the Chiefs enjoy success in his new home within the NFL.

Chiefs Trade Bust Josh Uche Somehow Turning Heads on New Team

During the 2024 season, the Chiefs acquired Josh Uche from the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. Unfortunately for Kansas City, the linebacker did not have a major impact on the team's success. In his six appearances, he recorded 10 total tackles, spending more time on the field with the special teams unit than he did with the defense.

Uche is now turning heads as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, as he gained praise from longtime offensive lineman Lane Johnson for his efforts thus far during the team's offseason program. Johnson noted how he remembered Uche from his time with the New England Patriots and believes the same attributes that made the linebacker an asset in New England will translate to his tenure in Philadelphia.

The former second-round pick showed the impact he can have when at his best during the 2022 season as he recorded a career-high 11.5 sacks in 15 games. That season has been an outlier when compared to the rest of his career, but production like that cannot be ignored.

Uche was, for lack of a better term, a bust in Kansas City. The Chiefs are a forward-looking franchise, though, as the success that lies ahead of them is more important to every member of the organization than whatever he didn't contribute during his lone season with the reigning AFC champs.
