The Kansas City Chiefs have an interesting battle at wide receiver going on at the bottom of their depth chart. While Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, and rookie Jalen Roayls are all likely safe, veteran JuJu Smith-Schuster could be battling for a spot during training camp.
Smith-Schuster must fend off players like Skyy Moore, Tyquan Thornton, and Nikko Remigio to stay on the roster.
With all that competition, former Chiefs receiver Mecole Hardman is likely glad he decided to leave this offseason for the Green Bay Packers. Though Hardman had been quiet throughout the Packers' OTAs and their first day of mandatory minicamp, that changed on Wednesday when he had an explosive play.
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, the ex-Chief caught nearly a 75-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Love during a two-minute drill.

Mecole Hardman Turns Back the Clock on the Second Day of Packers Minicamp
That type of explosiveness was Hardman's calling card in Kansas City, especially during his early seasons. From 2019-2022, he caught 151 passes on 220 targets for 2,088 yards and averaged 13.8 yards per reception.
Hardman's highest yards per reception came in his rookie year at 20.7 yards. This was thanks to four 30+ yard touchdown receptions. In the three seasons after that, he averaged between 11-13 yards per reception.
After the 2022 season, he left Kansas City for half a year and played for the New York Jets. Upon his return in the middle of the 2023 season, Hardman failed to match the success he had in his season-and-a-half return with the franchise.
Therefore, the fact that he was able to connect with Jordan Love on a deep ball during the Packers' minicamp is noteworthy. Though Hardman will become an opponent if he sticks in Green Bay, Chiefs Kingdom will always have a place in their heart for him after he won three Super Bowls with the team.
