Chiefs Sign Recent Draft Bust Right Before Week 15
The NFL regular season has been flying by as we roll into Week 15. The Kansas City Chiefs are 12-1 on the season and have won three straight games. They are tied for the best record in the league and currently own the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
On Sunday, they will be traveling to play the Cleveland Browns in an AFC showdown. And right before, the Chiefs made an addition to the roster and signed a draft bust onto the practice squad.
Chiefs News: Kansas City Adds Siaki Ika to Their Practice Squad
According to Aaron Wilson, the Chiefs have signed defensive tackle Siaki Ika to their practice squad.
Ika came into the league as a third-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2023 NFL Draft. His tenure with the Browns got off to a shaky start, as he had a foot injury that was originally supposed to keep him out of action for two games. When Week 3 of the 2023 season rolled around, he wasn't ready as he needed to work his way up to game speed.
The Baylor product ended up being inactive for the first 13 weeks of the season. The Baylor product recorded 104 total snaps for the Browns, logging zero tackles and one pass deflection.
Ika was released from Cleveland in October and landed on the Eagles practice squad. He was there from October to November before landing with the Chiefs. Ika came into the league as a space-eater and run-stuffer who clogged up the middle of the defensive line.
He hasn't lived up to his potential stepping into the league, but the Chiefs see something in the 24-year-old.
The playoffs are rapidly approaching, and there isn't any indication that Ika will be elevated to the active roster but injuries happen. There's a chance that Ika could impress the staff on the practice squad and get elevated to the 53-man roster at some point.
