The Chiefs are getting set for a pivotal showdown with the Bills on Sunday afternoon in Week 11 and received a piece of excellent news heading into the matchup.

Land Clark's crew was given the assignment in the marquee game of the week. Based on their work during this season, that's fantastic for Kansas City. The types of penalties they call benefit the Chiefs' stylistic game plan while directly harming the Bills'.

It didn't make sense for Kansas City to be an underdog already, but now it's truly egregious.

Chiefs vs. Bills Referee Assignment Announced

Thanks to the fine work of an "NFL Ref Stats" account on X (better known as Twitter), it looks like the Chiefs have a major advantage.

Home teams are 28-42-2 against the spread in Clark's career, with Kansas City being 4-0 and undefeated on the road. Jawaan Taylor has been frequently ridiculed for false start penalties in his career and that could be an issue, though the Chiefs are the least penalized team in the NFL for pre-snap penalties.

It's likely that Taylor's quick jump will result in at least one false start at some point. Otherwise, there isn't much to worry about for Chiefs fans. The Bills are penalizied significantly more, a sign of the coaching discrepancy between Andy Reid and Sean McDermott.

Everything has to go right for Buffalo to win this game. Kansas City has proven it can win in a variety of ways. The Chiefs won't shoot themselves in the foot. As we've seen countless examples of, the Bills will.

Referees don't determine who wins or loses a game, but it's hard to ignore how great this news is for Patrick Mahomes, Reid, and the undefeated Chiefs.
