Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media on Wednesday and refused to declare whether or not RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire would make his season debut on Sunday against the 49ers.

Edwards-Helaire hasn't played this season as he's dealt with PTSD symptoms but returned to practice this week. As one of the most experienced offensive players on the roster, his return would provide a boost to a decimated skill-position group dealing with the loss of Rashee Rice, Isiah Pacheco, and Hollywood Brown.

Kareem Hunt has stepped right up and performed well, carrying the ball 27 times in Week 5. Even still, there's no question that a trusted guy like Edwards-Helaire would give the running back room some juice and much-needed depth.

Chiefs Won't Commit to RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire Playing in Week 7

"We'll see," Reid said about Edwards-Helaire's availability, acknowledging in the process how great it is to have him back at practice. He filled in nicely last season when Pacheco missed a few games, ending the year with 411 yards from scrimmage and a pair of TDs.

Outside of Edwards-Helaire's situation, the only main injury update from Reid regarded DE Mike Danna. He was the only player on the active roster to miss Wednesday's practice, creating doubt he'll suit up against the 49ers.

There's no real reason to rush either player back at this point if they're not ready. Since the Chiefs had such an early bye week, there are a lot of consecutive games coming up during which new injuries could pop up. It's wise to manage the roster accordingly, so it'd be a surprise to see either play on Sunday.

That being said, Edwards-Helaire should soon make his debut and Chiefs fans should be thrilled to see him out there.
