Chiefs Defender More Likely to Miss Week 7 After Wednesday's News

Chiefs DE Mike Danna missed Wednesday's practice nursing his pectoral injury, creating significant doubt that he'll be able to suit up on Sunday afternoon against the 49ers.

Head coach Andy Reid told reporters on Tuesday that Danna was working on his pec over the bye week. He previously missed Week 4 with a calf issue though he came back in Week 5.

There's still an opportunity for Danna to suit up and practice this week. However, given the Chiefs are already past their bye and have over two months of consecutive games, it's logical for Danna to rest and make sure he's healthy for the stretch run.

If Danna can't go, it opens the door for Felix Anudike-Uzomah. Malik Herring would also get snaps, but Anudike-Uzomah needs experience to deliver on the promise he showed as the team's first-round pick in 2023.

Charles Omenihu is due back sometime soon from his ACL tear and snaps will be hard to come by at that point. When Danna missed Week 4, Anudike-Uzomah played 46% of the snaps and Herring played 32%.

Outside of Danna, Reid reported that every other player practiced. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is back to work and while Reid didn't say whether or not he'd play on Sunday, it's still good to see the veteran back getting work in.

Kansas City opened as a 1.5-point underdog to San Francisco at BetMGM, a shock given the two team's respective records. Danna has only a half-sack and likely wouldn't make a major impact on the final score, but the Chiefs would certainly prefer to have him on the field.
