The trade deadline has arrived and the Chiefs have less than 36 hours remaining to make any final moves. They've been linked to Saints All-Pro CB Marshon Lattimore and after New Orleans melted down against the lowly Carolina Panthers on Sunday, they're likely to be sellers.

Lattimore could give Kansas City a bonafide partner for Trent McDuffie and cement the defense as the best in the league. Considering the Saints' poor cap situation, they'd likely take the potential out of his contract after this season to start the rebuild.

If they're not keeping him anyway, why not send him to the Chiefs and give a veteran the chance to win a ring?

Chiefs Must Trade for CB Marshon Lattimore After Saints Loss

Brett Veach has been active ahead of the deadline, already acquiring WR DeAndre Hopkins and DE Josh Uche. Getting Lattimore would be the cherry on top, making Kansas City a clear favorite to pull off a three-peat.

They're running low on draft picks but still have a pair of third-rounders thanks to the L'Jarius Sneed trade. Lattimore is allowing just a 54.5% completion percentage and 69.1 passer rating, so he's worth one of those thirds.

The Saints have now lost seven straight after an impressive 0-2 start. Their season is over and it's time to look to the future. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are undefeated. Trading Lattimore to Kansas City makes too much sense for both sides. He's played in New Orleans for his entire career. Doing right by him would be a classy move from the front office as well.

No matter what happens, we'll soon know what the final roster will look like. Here's hoping Veach has at least one more trick up his sleeve.
