Chiefs Get Shocking Hollywood Brown Injury Update on Heels of Big Trade
By Jovan Alford
The Kansas City Chiefs bolstered their receiver room on Wednesday, acquiring star wideout DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans. The trade was much-needed for the undefeated Chiefs as their receiver room has been hit hard by injury this season.
Before the regular season began, the Chiefs lost veteran wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a shoulder injury in the preseason. Brown was supposed to be Kansas City’s top wide receiver, along with Rashee Rice and rookie Xavier Worthy.
However, the Chiefs saw Rice go down with a season-ending knee injury, putting their WR room in a bind. Kansas City fans hoped the second-year wideout wouldn’t miss the entire season, but all's not lost for Brown.
Chiefs Rumors: Hollywood Brown Could Return by the NFL Playoffs
According to Underdog Fantasy Senior NFL reporter James Palmer, there’s a real chance the 27-year-old Brown could return by the time the postseason arrives.
If the Chiefs can get Brown back by the time the NFL playoffs kick off it would be a huge boon for Kansas City’s offense. The 27-year-old pass catcher is an excellent complement to Hopkins as he has speed and can stretch the field.
Brown was placed on injured reserve in September because of the shoulder injury. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that there’s still a chance the veteran wideout could return for the NFL postseason, but Brown isn’t expected back any sooner than mid-January.
Chiefs fans hope Brown returns for the playoffs as this team could be on the cusp of doing something special. However, they’ll look forward to Hopkins making his debut possibly on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
