The Kansas City Chiefs placed starting cornerback Jaylen Watson on the injured reserve list after he fractured his ankle in Week 7. The 26-year-old defender could potentially miss the rest of the season, creating a big hole in the Chiefs secondary.

Nazeeh Johnson will start in Watson's place against the Raiders in Week 8, with Joshua Williams also seeing an expanded role. At the same time, it's obvious that the Chiefs need to make an upgrade to their rotation before the November 5 trade deadline.

Fortunately for them, a former Pro Bowler has become available. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Los Angeles Rams and cornerback Tre'Davious White are "discussing options for his future", including a potential trade.

NFL Rumors: Chiefs Have a Chance to Trade for All-Pro Cornerback

In his prime, White was one of the best cornerbacks in the league. In 2019 and 2020, he earned back-to-back Pro Bowl honors, recording nine interceptions in 29 starts for the Buffalo Bills.

In the last couple of seasons, White has been dealing with significant injuries, seriously derailing his career. At the end of the 2021 season, he tore his ACL. He returned in 2022 and appeared in six games. In 2023, he suffered an Achilles tear, limiting him to four games.

Before the 2024 campaign, White signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the Rams. After starting in the first four games of the season, he has been inactive for the past couple of weeks, making him a viable option on the trade market.

At this stage of his career, White wouldn't require a massive haul in a potential trade. A sixth-round pick should be enough for the Chiefs to acquire White and add much-needed depth and veteran competence to their cornerback rotation.
