The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for their highly anticipated Sunday Night Football matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14. A win over their division rivals would clinch the AFC West title for the Chiefs and bring them one step closer to the first-round bye in the playoffs.

Already having clinched the postseason, however, Chiefs fans are more concerned about getting healthy rather than their seeding. The surprise injury to Mecole Hardman in Friday's practice was not what the Chiefs needed before the final stretch of the season.

The Chiefs are already short-handed in the wide receiver room as Hardman joined Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown, and Skyy Moore on the injured reserve list.

On the other hand, the unexpected injury provides a valuable opportunity for a fan favorite. Nikko Remigio, who was signed to the active roster on Saturday, has an excellent chance to make his NFL debut on Sunday.

Chiefs News: WR Nikko Remigio Could Make NFL Debut Soon

Despite being in the NFL and on the Chiefs practice squad since 2023, Remigio was never elevated to the active roster. In his impressive preseason stints, however, he has been a very intriguing player for Chiefs fans.

During the 2024 preseason, he showed flashes as a return specialist and a playmaker, putting up 133 yards on four kick returns, 42 yards on two punt returns, and seven catches for 52 yards. The coaching staff praised Remigio and his work ethic at every turn.

The short-handed Chiefs have DeAndre Hopkins, Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Justin Watson, and now Remigio available in the WR rotation for Sunday. Considering that they utilized five receivers in every game so far this season, it would be a major shock if Remigio didn't see some snaps against the Chargers.

Whether he will receive any return duties or get any targets in the passing game remains to be seen but Chiefs fans must be thrilled to finally get a look at one of their favorite practice squad prospects.
