The Kansas City Chiefs have yet to address their glaring need for a wide receiver. Andy Reid's team needs to give Patrick Mahomes another weapon, and while signing Kenneth Walker III will certainly help, that might not be enough.
The Chiefs waited until Day 3 to address the position with Cyrus Allen. They let Marquise "Hollywood" Brown walk, and they have yet to add a proven veteran to the mix. As things stand now, they're trusting Rashee Rice, Tyquan Thornton, and Xavier Worthy to hold down the fort.
That's why it's not much of a surprise to see that they might be interested in the biggest name in the trade market. According to Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox, the Chiefs could join the New England Patriots in their pursuit of A.J. Brown.
The Chiefs need to make a run at A.J. Brown
"Why would the Eagles move a three-time Pro Bowler who has topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of his past four seasons? Simply put, Brown's time in Philly appears to have run its course," argued Knox. "While New England appears to be his most likely destination, it isn't the only receiver-needy team that should be interested."
Most signs point to Brown ultimately getting reunited with his former head coach, Mike Vrabel. That said, the Philadelphia Eagles will send him to the highest bidder, so the Chiefs could be a little more aggressive if they want to win this race.
Despite Brown's well-documented character issues, he'd be the huge pickup this offense has craved for a while now. He'd immediately slide in as the primary pass catcher, giving the Chiefs some insurance for the injury-prone and trouble-making Rice, who must prove he can stay healthy and out of trouble before getting a contract extension.
Brown might not be the most easy-going character, and he obviously comes with some red flags. That said, he's one of the most physical and dominant wide receivers in the game right now. He'd give new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy another weapon to get creative, not to mention a perennial mismatch in the end zone.
The Chiefs are coming off their worst season in the Patrick Mahomes era. They can't rest on their laurels and run it back with the same underwhelming wide receiver corps, especially with the rest of the AFC West looking much better ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Brown comes with some baggage and a big contract, but winning teams have to swing for the fences and make big moves. He'd be better than Stefon Diggs, Deebo Samuel, or Tyreek Hill, and with few big-name options up for grabs, Brett Veach should make sure Howie Roseman doesn't send him packing to Foxborough.
