After a horrendous Super Bowl showing, the Kansas City Chiefs front office knew they must make changes to the roster going into 2025. As a result, this offseason, Kansas City retooled both the offensive line and cornerback rooms.

Though both were issues in the Super Bowl, the depth of the cornerback room was questionable the whole season, so it needed to be addressed. That is why the Chiefs signed veteran Kristian Fulton and drafted Nohl Williams. These additions, however, pushed backups who saw lots of playing time in 2024 down the depth chart, making it harder for them to climb back up.

One of the players that falls into that category is former seventh-round pick Nazeeh Johnson. After a quiet OTAs and minicamp, Johnson could be considered on the roster bubble heading into training camp.

Nazeeh Johnson's Days in Kansas City May be Numbered

Many Chiefs fans would be delighted if they never had to see Johnson suit up in red and white again. And in the wake of his 2024 performance, the fans have every right to hold that opinion.

In 2024, the former seventh-round pick struggled massively in coverage, recording a 51.2 grade according to PFF. Furthermore, he allowed 60% of passes thrown his way to be completed, showing he is a consistent liability in coverage. Given these numbers, it's no surprise that fans have lost trust in him.

Johnson is likely battling Joshua Williams and Christian Roland-Wallace for the sixth cornerback spot. Like Johnson, Williams also struggled on the field in 2024, even though his stats were slightly better than Johnson's.

Roland-Wallace, on the other hand, looked promising in the limited action he saw last year.

That said, neither player stood out during OTAs or minicamp. However, neither did Johnson, meaning strong training camp and preseason performances are paramount for him to make the team. If he fails to do so, his days in Kansas City will be over.
