The Kansas City Chiefs should approach this offseason as an opportunity to start with a clean slate on the coaching staff. Andy Reid has earned the benefit of the doubt, but there's little reason to keep most of the people around him.

The team started cleaning house already. They fired wide receivers coach Connor Embree, which, given how things have fared in recent years, isn't necessarily much of a surprise. Now, with John Harbaugh also fired, the Chiefs could turn to the Baltimore Ravens to get a familiar face back to Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs Should Hire Greg Lewis Again

The Baltimore Ravens will have a new head coach, and they will probably want their own coaching staff. That leaves the door wide open for former WR coach Greg Lewis to get back to Kansas City. He served as the wide receivers coach from 2017 to 2020 and again from 2021 to 2022, and was instrumental in the development of Tyreek Hill.

The Chiefs have a promising wideout in Rashee Rice, but it still feels like he's only scratching the surface on the field. Meanwhile, his latest off-field concern, which the NFL is looking into, could impact KC's WR situation. As for Xavier Worthy, the former first-round pick is dangerously entering 'bust' territory after two rather underwhelming seasons in the league.

Andy Reid has always touted the complexity of his offensive schemes. That makes sense to a degree, and it would certainly help to get someone already familiar with the system back in the fold.

The Chiefs will most likely move on from offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. His contract is up, and since he's a primary candidate for several head coaching positions, it's hard to believe he's going to come back. As such, they could also look to reunite Patrick Mahomes with Kliff Kingsbury, who served as Mahomes' head coach at Texas Tech, or bring back former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

Whatever the case, it seems like the conditions are ideal for multiple reunions in Kansas City. With Lewis at the helm, the Chiefs managed to win a couple of Super Bowls, and the pass-catching corps was far more proficient and impactful.

Patrick Mahomes needs as much help as he can get to lead this team back to the mountaintop. And since the team isn't likely to be in a position to add much more talent at wide receiver, they might as well get someone with a proven track record of bringing the best out of the players they have.
