Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy's contract with the Kansas City Chiefs is up now that the offseason is here. Despite all the criticism he's faced since replacing ex-OC Eric Bieniemy, his years under head coach Andy Reid's mentorship and previous head coaching experience have sparked some league-wide interest for several coaching openings.

Per NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, Nagy is expected to interview with the Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans, and Arizona Cardinals for their current head coaching openings. Fortunately for the Chiefs, the perfect replacement if Nagy leaves town just lost his job as well.

Kliff Kingsbury is no longer the Washington Commanders' offensive coordinator, and the fans aren't the only ones who believe he might be a feasible replacement. As shown by Arrowhead Corner on X, Bobby Stroupe, Patrick Mahomes' personal coach, just liked a post on Instagram linking Kingsbury to the Chiefs.

Kliff Kingsbury Makes Perfect Sense for the Chiefs

Getting Kingsbury back together with Patrick Mahomes sounds like a match made in heaven. The former Texas Tech head coach already said that his ideal QB was 'the Chiefs quarterback,' and Mahomes has also had nothing but praise for him.

Earlier in the season, Mahomes said that Kingsbury was "one of the first people that truly believed in me playing the quarterback position," ahead of his matchup with the Commanders, so he'd certainly welcome a reunion.

Even though some fans often mock Kingsbury for having a losing record with the Red Raiders with Mahomes at quarterback, he should get plenty of credit for turning a former three-star recruit and No. 398 high school player in Texas into the No. 10 pick in the NFL Draft.

Under his guidance, Mahomes led the nation in passing yards (5,052), total offense (5,312), and yards per game (421). He won the 2016 Sammy Baugh Trophy. He completed 65.7% of his passes with 41 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. All in all, Mahomes completed 63.5% of his passes for 11,252 yards, 93 touchdowns, 29 interceptions, and a passer rating of 152.0 when he played for Kingsbury.

He's only gotten better since, and the Chiefs' offense, while conceptually complex, could use a more modern look and approach. Kingsbury is great with the Xs and Os and scheming players open. Even if head coach Andy Reid remains as the play-caller, he can provide a much-needed spark to that unit.

Of course, Chiefs fans are already salivating at the idea of a Kingsbury-Mahomes reunion in K.C. Even ESPN Chiefs reporter Nate Taylor is fully on board with the idea (h/t @ArrowheadCorner), stating, "Until reported otherwise, Kliff Kingsbury needs to be considered a serious candidate for the offensive coordinator job in Kansas City."

Kingsbury knows how to make the most of mobile quarterbacks. Mahomes may not be as fast as Kyler Murray or Jayden Daniels, but he was the team's third-leading rusher last season, and he can certainly scramble and work his magic with his legs. A couple of designed runs per game should only open up even more things for the offense.

The Chiefs need to make major adjustments, both to the roster and the coaching staff. Kingsbury's firing was a major surprise, and now that he's fallen right into their laps, they just can't afford not to move on from Nagy in favor of him.
