The Kansas City Chiefs finished the regular season with a 15-2 record. That locked down the No. 1 seed in the AFC and a first-round bye. The rest at this point of the season is clutch, as starters also rest in Week 18 against the Denver Broncos.

As the Chiefs wait for their Divisional Round tilt, assistant GM Mike Borgonzi and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy interviewed with the New York Jets on Tuesday for their respective positions. The Jets didn't stop there and requested to interview defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. The Las Vegas Raiders also requested to interview Spagnuolo for their opening.

The Jets had an opening since October when they parted ways with Robert Saleh and made Jeff Ulbrich the interim coach. Meanwhile, the Raiders fired Antonio Pierce on Tuesday after just one season.

Back on Jan. 2, Spagnuolo revealed that he would like another chance at being a head coach in the NFL. The 65-year-old is one of the best defensive coordinators in the league. Before joining the Chiefs in 2019, Spagnuolo was the defensive coordinator with the New York Giants from 2015-2017 and the interim coach in 2017. He was also the defensive coordinator with the Giants from 2007-2008.

The Massachusetts native had stops with the Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Rams, New Orleans Saints, and Baltimore Ravens in his coaching career.

Spagnuolo has secured four Super Bowl titles with the Giants and Chiefs and would love the chance to lead his own team. Being 65 years old, there might not be too many of these opportunities left for him.

This season the Chiefs finished the campaign ranked ninth in total defense (320.6), eighth in pass defense (101.8), and fourth in scoring defense (19.2).

This group will always come out ready to play and Spagnuolo's identity on that unit goes a long way. With a desire to land an HC gig again, Spagnuolo will have a chance to sway two different ownership groups and potentially become a head coach.
