While the Kansas City Chiefs are busy preparing for the Super Bowl matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, there is still plenty of movement going around the NFL as the offseason for 30 other teams is already underway.

Players are being cut, coaches are changing jobs, and organizations are welcoming new members of the front office into key roles.

The Chiefs, one of the most stable franchises in sports, aren't exempt from those changes. They just announced a major move themselves, welcoming David Higdon as the new Executive Vice President of Communications on Friday.

Chiefs Announce David Higdon as New EVP of Communications

Higdon has held communications leadership roles in tennis, golf, NASCAR, and esports prior to joining Kansas City. He comes on board at an exciting time, with the Chiefs establishing a global footprint as one of the most well-known sports teams in the world.

"We are extremely excited to welcome David to the Chiefs family as the new lead of our communications, community outreach, and civic affairs teams," Chiefs President Mark Donovan said in a release. "David has a wealth of experience across global sports brands and organizations as well as a reputation for being a strategic and innovative leader."

On top of assisting with general club ventures and projects with the executive team for organizational objectives, Higdon will also lead the franchise's Civic Affairs and Community Outreach departments.

"We are excited to add his perspective, voice, and leadership to an established group of high-performing individuals in these departments and look forward to seeing how he can further elevate Chiefs Kingdom locally, regionally, nationally and internationally," Donovan continued.

To his credit, Higdon seems to understand the opportunity and is excited about the way he can help push the Chiefs further onto the forefront of American sports.

"It's a tremendous honor to join the Chiefs at this unprecedented time in their storied history," Higdon said. "Clark Hunt has impressively built upon the legacy shaped by his father, Lamar, while he, Mark, and many others here have evolved the present-day Chiefs into something truly special."

This is something truly special indeed, as Kansas City is just one win away from cementing itself in an unimpeachable class of history. The Chiefs are 1.5-point favorites over the Eagles in the Super Bowl at FanDuel Sportsbook and if they pull this off, the first few days of Higdon's new job are sure to be memorable.
