Chiefs Give 1st Update on Isiah Pacheco’s Potential Week 12 Return
By Joe Summers
The Chiefs received a major piece of Isiah Pacheco news on Monday following reports that he'd be healthy in time for a Week 12 matchup with the Panthers on Sunday.
Andy Reid spoke to the media after a disappointing loss to the Bills, commenting on Pacheco for the first time since Ian Rapoport suggested his return was imminent. Charles Omenihu is a major topic of conversation as well, though Reid remained mum on the duo playing.
According to Reid, it'll depend on how practice goes this week. That said, Reid is notoriously quiet with the media, so it sounds like Pacheco is ready to roll.
Andy Reid Shares Isiah Pacheco Injury Update Before Week 12
Unfortunately, he didn't truly give any update. "We'll have to see as the week goes on," Reid said, continuing his coy nature with a major player's injury.
The Chiefs' rushing game has suffered in recent weeks. Kareem Hunt has performed well, though it's clear he needs a legitimate partner in the backfield. Carson Steele hasn't met his preseason expectations and his poor pass protection has left him unplayable at times.
Meanwhile, Pacheco became one of the NFL's best backs in 2023. It's thrilling to imagine a fierce backfield composed of him and Hunt, so his return is certainly heavily anticipated. It'd be logical to give Pacheco a handful of snaps against the lowly Panthers next week to let him get his legs back under him before truly unleashing him later in the year, though it's unclear what Kansas City's plans are.
Regardless, it seems like we're only a matter of days away from seeing Pacheco back on the field.
