The Kansas City Chiefs are experiencing something different this offseason. After falling 40-22 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, the roster needs some retooling.
The position that fans automatically think needs to be upgraded is left tackle. That is certainly a position of need, but other spots need improvements. One area is receiver and the Chiefs have a perfect choice in the first round.
Texas receiver Matthew Golden could be the perfect option for them at No. 31.
The Chiefs have DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Brown hitting free agency. Rashee Rice is coming off a major knee injury so it leaves Xavier Worthy as the only reliable WR going into 2025.
That's where Golden could come into the fold. He's a versatile weapon who can line up in the slot, X, or Z receiver positions. He's an explosive and dynamic playmaker. The Texas native runs crips routes, using his quickness to consistently create separation. Golden also owns a big catch radius.
In 36 collegiate games, Golden had 134 receptions, 1,975 receiving yards, and 22 touchdowns. This past season with the Texas Longhorns was his best season. He posted career-highs in receptions (58), receiving yards (987), and receiving touchdowns (9).

Marcus Golden Could Be the Perfect Choice for KC in 1st Round
Adding a weapon like Golden to the fold would be a terrific addition. Yes, we know that the Kansas City Chiefs need to improve the trenches but adding a dynamic weapon shouldn't go under the radar.
At times this season, it looked like Kansas City's receivers had trouble getting open. Bringing in another athletic pass catcher is something that should be enticing to the Chiefs. Tetairoa McMillan, Luther Burden III, and Emeka Egbuka are the top receivers in this class and could be gone in the top 20.
The Chiefs are used to picking in the back half of the first round so that's nothing new. Last year, they took Worthy with the 28th pick. He recorded 638 receiving yards and six touchdowns during the regular season and looks like a key player going forward.
Why not pair him with another explosive receiver and have your receiver duo of the future locked in?
