The Kansas City Chiefs have worked hard to retain their free agents as the NFL offseason continues. General manager Brett Veach has made several moves to re-sign members of last year's roster, which includes bringing back veteran pass rusher Charles Omenihu on a one-year, $7 million deal.

Omenihu, 27, is a solid disruptor when healthy and will be relied upon to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks this fall. The fanbase is excited to have the former Texas Longhorn back in the mix, and that excitement is bound to increase following the message he just sent to Chiefs Kingdom.

Charles Omenihu Sends Message to Chiefs Fans Following Contract Re-Signing

Omenihu finally signed his new contract on Thursday, prompting him to send a message to the Chiefs fanbase once the ink dried.

"What's up, Chiefs Kingdom? Man, I just put pen to paper. 9-and-0 is back," Omenihu said on the Chiefs X page. "Much love to y'all. We're gonna have a great year."

Omenihu, 27, is a former 2019 Houston Texans fifth-round pick who's about to enter his seventh NFL season. The Houston, TX native played parts of two seasons with the Texans before being traded to the San Francisco 49ers partway through the 2021 season. He stayed with the 49ers until the 2023 offseason when he signed a two-year contract with the Chiefs.

After missing the first six games, Omenihu was one of Kansas City's most important players in 2023. The 6-foot-5 pass rusher racked up 18 solo tackles, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and a pair of broken-up passes in 11 regular-season games before adding another three tackles and a sack in three playoff outings, culminating in his first Super Bowl win.

Unfortunately, a torn ACL suffered in the 2023-24 AFC Championship game held Omenihu out of the Chiefs' lineup until November. He managed to play nine games for Kansas City between the 2024 regular season and playoffs, registering 10 solo tackles, two sacks, and two forced fumbles while playing to a 57.8 Pro Football Focus pass rush grade.

Now over a year removed from his injury, Omenihu is determined to prove that the Chiefs were right to re-sign him this offseason. It was a message that the veteran EDGE made abundantly clear to his haters and supporters alike on his personal X account.

"Give me a full season to do this right and see what the results are," Omenihu wrote shortly after the Chiefs video was posted. "Appreciate those who don’t believe and those who do."

Omenihu has plenty of believers throughout Chiefs Kingdom, and that number will only increase if he can help lead the team to another Super Bowl. For now, the Chiefs will continue with the NFL offseason holding the fourth-best Super Bowl 60 odds (+800) on FanDuel Sportsbook.
