The rivalry between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers went up a notch on Friday night. Not only did the Chargers declare themselves as legitimate contenders who could steal Kansas City's divisional crown, but defensive tackle Teair Tart took it upon himself to create beef with superstar tight end Travis Kelce.

While Kelce was far from an issue, he's the most famous football player on the planet and has a target on his back every time he suits up. Even though the wide receivers struggled with Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy out, Kelce was the focal point of Los Angeles head coach Jim Harbaugh's defense.

Speaking to that point, Tart took to social media following the Chargers' victory in a foolish way, making himself an enemy of Chiefs Kingdom moving forward.

Chargers DT Teair Tart Creates an Enemy Out of Kansas City with Foolish Social Media Post

After slapping Kelce while simultaneously not being flagged during the game, Tart took it upon himself to become Kansas City's new most-hated player. On social media, he posted a picture of himself with the caption ā€œI’m too swift with it even in Brazil.ā€

It's an admittedly funny dig considering Kelce's engagement with Taylor Swift, but one that has turned him into a villain for Chiefs fans. The 28-year-old interior defensive lineman didn't start a single game in 2024, but he turned himself into a potential Los Angeles icon with this post. Not that Chargers fans care too much, but Kansas City ones certainly do.

Tart didn't start on Friday night either, and he's not someone the Chiefs should concern themselves with. Either way, you can bet that Kansas City's entire roster will be hunting him when these squads square off again later in the season.

Everyone watching assumed that a flag would come when Tart slapped Kelce on the helmet. It never came, and represented an obvious miss by a referee crew that had no hesitation in penalizing Jawaan Taylor.

No matter what happens during the rest of the season, the Chargers have announced themselves as a real threat. In order for Kansas City to win its 10th consecutive AFC West title, it'll need to overcome a well-coached team with guys who clearly aren't afraid of the Chiefs titans. Hopefully, Kansas City will make it work moving forward, but it's hard to argue that they're not in a bad spot.

Thanks to new villains like Tart, the Chiefs are in a brutal spot with games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens coming up. If they're going to reach their ceiling, they need to take posts like Tart's personally.
