Former Kansas City Chiefs safety Mike Edwards was shockingly released on Tuesday by the Buffalo Bills. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the veteran defender asked for and was granted his release by the Bills.

Some Kansas City fans briefly thought about the idea of the team bringing back the 28-year-old defensive back. However, Edwards will reunite with another former Chiefs defender in the AFC South.
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Edwards is on his way to signing with the Tennessee Titans pending a physical.
Edwards will be playing with L’Jarius Sneed, who was traded by the Chiefs to the Titans. Sneed was then signed to a four-year, $76.4 million contract extension.

Edwards didn’t play much with the Bills this season after having a significant role with the Chiefs in 2023. The former Chiefs defensive back played in three games with the Bills, logging seven defensive and 20 special teams snaps.
This is a stark contrast to what Edwards did with the Chiefs where he recorded 51 combined tackles, five pass deflections, two tackles for loss, a quarterback hit, and an interception.
The vet defender had a stellar 48.4 completion percentage allowed on targets, a 77.2 pass rating allowed when targeted, and only gave up two touchdowns. Before Edwards joined the Chiefs in 2023, he spent the first four years of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With the Titans banged up in the secondary, the former Chiefs safety has a chance to show that his stint with the Bills was a fluke.
