D.J. Humphries made his debut at left tackle for the Chiefs on Sunday night against the Los Angeles Chargers. Although Humphries struggled in his debut, there was still optimism within the building about his performance.

Unfortunately, Humphries sustained an injury in the fourth quarter. While no update was provided after the game, head coach Andy Reid did give one during his Monday press conference. Reid said," DJ Humphries sustained a hamstring injury and is feeling a little bit better this morning but is due for an MRI."

Chiefs News: D.J. Humphries hamstring injury puts availability in question

This is certainly not the news Chiefs fans wanted to hear. Even though Humphries feels a bit better today, when a coach says that a player is still pending an MRI, nine times out of ten, it's not good news.

Humphries' struggles against the Chargers weren't what many fans were expecting. However, they are understandable given that it was his first game back and the strength of the Chargers is their pass rush.

Moving forward though, Humphries had the chance to establish himself as a top left tackle before the playoffs. Sadly, depending on the results of the MRI, he might not get a chance to do that.

Hopefully, for the Chiefs' sake, Humphries' hamstring injury ends up not being serious. If it is, they will have to go back to Wanya Morris, who is also not 100%, for the rest of the season.

Moving back to Morris could cost the Chiefs a chance at their third straight Super Bowl given how bad he has looked this season. There was reason for optimism based on limited snaps when Humphries got hurt, but it's still a discouraging sign nonetheless.
